It was a great pleasure for DESMA having won another Product Award of the German Rubber Society (DKG) on the occasion of the last DKT (German Rubber Conference) in Nuremberg in July. The system ZeroWaste ITM already presented at the DESMA Open House 2011 was received with great interest by specialist circles.
The BENCHMARK series has been DESMA’s most important series since its market introduction at the K 2001. The BENCHMARK clamping system created new standards when it was introduced 9 years ago - and it still represents the best in ergonomics, today. The redesigned S3 version is to follow up on this success.
ActiveFeed is an option of the new FIFO-Advanced injection unit of DESMA. Here an additional cylindrical roller which is arranged parallel to the plasticizing screw changes the feeding behavior essentially. The compound strip is compulsorily fed in like it is the case with a rolling mill. As soon as the feedstock touches screw and roller, it is retained and transported towards the screw cylinder.
Injection molding machines for elastomers consume energy in different ways. Usually, this takes place through electrical current (there are exceptions when it comes to cooling). The main consumers are driving system, heating and temperature control. Smaller consumers such as vacuum pump, material feeding, control systems, etc. play a minor role.
Operating a DESMA injection moulding machine should be fun and thus contribute to motivation and increase of efficiency. With the DESMA RUBBBER CONTROL visualization concept, abbreviated DRC 2020 HT, which is unparalleled for the rubber industry, DESMA is setting new standards.
For many years DESMA has been the globally leading manufacturer of special machines for the production of pump stators. Especially for larger stators, machines without clamping unit are used. Up to a length of 10 m, pump stators are produced by using the injection process. For this purpose, special machines are available with one or two injection units which are able to inject alternately more than 300 kg of rubber by way of the multi-shot procedure.
At the K 2010 DESMA presented the newly designed BENCHMARK S3 vertical machine. The machine surprises with an impressive bundle of new technical features like ServoGear, ActiveFeed, PlastControl and QuickLock as well as the further developed FIFO-Advanced.
Having faster set-up times helps increase machine availability. And that means the machine can produce more in the same time. This equation only works if no unnecessary time is wasted when changing moulds. DESMA offers a range of pre-heating stations able to significantly enhance machine availability.
The Bold & Modest campaign accompanied DESMA during the challenging time of the financial and economic crisis. Under the new campaign motto Fit & Fair DESMA wants to face the changed market conditions and the structural change in future. What the two buzzwords "fitness" and "fairness" mean to DESMA was subject of a kickoff meeting for the new campaign. Its result: being fit and fair in order to be the best in the market regarding performance and result. Quick, agile and at the highest technical level.

To use existing plants more efficiently and to realize new acquisitions with maximum productivity and with minimum resource consumption - these goals have today come to the fore for many rubber processors. A reliable method, especially in the production of rubber moulded parts, is the manufacture in two decks. On the one hand this increases productivity by more than 70 % and on the other hand energy consumption is reduced by saving a second machine. Moreover, this is feasible with half of the production area. Combined with a central cold runner of DESMA, this clearly reduces the share of waste, the costs decline further.
The elastomer injection moulding machine D 968.1000 ZO B-900 of DESMA combines ease of operation with versatility and high productivity. From the processing of great material quantities to the easy handling of large-volume rubber-to-metal bonded parts, it can be flexibly applied.
The increasing demand for maximal production consolidation with flexible availability of machine capacity at the same time was fully borne in mind while developing the DESMA 968.100 ZOE. This vertical machine with 1,000 kN clamping force could be largely composed by means of standard units from the modular DESMA component system - in a surprisingly compact design.
Due to a central arrangement of the cold runner in the injection moulding process, elastomer parts can be produced in two decks. This increases productivity by 70 % on an average. The two-deck production is possible with both horizontal and vertical machines.
For more than 100 years the company Brugg Cables has been serving the world market with high-voltage and maximum-voltage cables up to a voltage category of 550 kV. Founded in 1886 as Suhner AG and trading since the 1930s as Kabelwerke Brugg, the enterprise has grown dynamically.
Supported by the current market situation, the solutions for production optimization developed and provided by DESMA are highly rated. While in previous years many planners were keen on increases in capacity and volume orientation, the focus is now on ways to cut production costs and to optimize processes, as it is reflected by the strong interest in the cold runner technology.
The patent pending VARIO cold runner system presented at the IRC 2009 generated strong interest and met with enthusiastic approval among the visitors. This cold runner technology is the first to enable a variable adjustment of nozzle distances in order to be applicable for different moulds.
The special pump stator machines in the DESMA D 969 Z2 series have successfully gained a global niche market in recent years. The production of these pump stators involves the continuous production of up to ten metre long steel tubes: they have virtually unlimited injection volumes and are continuously filled with a rubber compound to line the tubes.
DESMA is a leading supplier of turnkey systems for elastomer articles, to improve its services it has developed a highly efficient and versatile production plant for the manufacture of pipe seals for the building industry. The client is a well-known company based in Turkey.
